Building for society, with society

Technology putting public interests first, and using open source, to help society come together and co-create solutions to shared challenges.

Tech for Good

Public interest technology

It starts with governance, as that is the only way to ensure decisions are made with public interests first. Alkemio has legally locked this in through steward-ownership.

As the influence of technology on our lives grows ever-more dominant, we believe society needs safer digital foundations for our interactions.

Instead of extractive tech, where decision-making puts shareholder profits above all else even if it causes harm to users and society.

You’re not the product

Unlocking value, not capturing value

100% focus on helping society collaborate better to solve shared challenges. Open source, so people can learn and use the code. No data selling. To redirect our tech environment for the greater good.

Instead of treating users and society as the product, with exploitative algorithms, ads, and data selling.

Unlocking value, not capturing value

Inclusive collaboration over polarization

Bringing people together

Designed to overcome boundaries, as cross-sector collaboration is key to solving many complex challenges. We want to create a network effect — an inclusive and elevating environment of collaboration and trust.

Instead of causing polarisation and hurting democracy and society in order to drive profits.

Bringing people together

Sovereign by default

Designed for digital sovereignty

Each Space controls its data, with a well-defined API, data export, and open source code, so you’re never locked in. Alkemio will never sell your data. We want Alkemio to be part of a network of public interest tech with open source, open governance, and data portability, helping users and Europe to have digital sovereignty.

As Alkemio matures, we’ll look to support additional linkages and integrations across the wider tech ecosystem.

Instead of excessive dependence on big tech that locks you in and exploits your data for their benefit; that can decide to shut down your access to your data, and your ability to act; with no alternatives.
